In the eight years she lived here before her death of breast cancer in 1918, she established the most productive cattle ranch and citrus farming operation in the region, invested in real estate and civic improvements, and doubled the fortune her husband left to her upon his death.  These are striking achievements for a woman of her era and class.

The Bertha Palmer 2010 Centennial Celebrations is Sarasota County’s way of collectively honoring the spirit of the pioneering Bertha Honore Palmer and the enduring impact she made on our community.
